Reiki

Reiki is the Japanese word for ‘Universal Life Force’. It is pronounced ‘ray-key’. It refers to energy that surrounds us constantly and flows through every living thing. In Japan it was originally taught by Mikao Usui in the 1920’s as a self healing method and a path to enlightenment. The energy promotes healing wherever it is needed. It works holistically on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects together to restore balance and health.

Reiki can be used by anyone irrespective of their beliefs. It is suitable for all age groups and states of health. Reiki is powerful, yet gentle and safe. It can be used alongside other forms of treatment, both conventional and complementary in supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

A reiki treatment lasts for 45 minutes. Following a 10 minute consultation the client remains clothed and reclines on the couch to be treated using a light hands on technique in positions relative to the chakras and to the area related to problems being experienced. After 20 minutes the client turns over to lie face down for another 20 minutes. The session is completed with aura clearing techniques.
